An accumulator tank (also known as a buffer tank or thermal store) is a hot water battery used for storing large quantities of thermal energy for use with a wet central heating system. A log boiler always requires an accumulator tank, a pellet boiler can function without one, but the efficienty and lifespan of your pellet boiler is increased with the use of an accumulator tank. Varmebaronen accumulator tanks range from basic tanks (Aqualux UB), tanks with internal domestic hot water tank (DHW) (Aqualux CU) and tanks that support multiple renewable heat sources and include internal domestic hot water tanks (DHW).
A log biomass boiler must store the energy produced in a thermal store for later use, heating the property consistently after the fire has burnt out. Varmebaronen recommend sizing your accumulator for you biomass log boiler at 50 litres per kW.
An accumulation tank will increase the efficiency and prolong the lifespan of a wood pellet boiler. Having a bank of hot water ensures that the boiler does not go into short cycles whenever heat is called for, reducing peak demands on the system and increasing efficiency. An accumulator tank will also provides a requirement for instantaneous heat.
Varmebaronen thermal storage accumulator tanks are available in 500, 750 and 1000 litre volumes. Varmebaronen Aqualux accumulator tanks can combined to create additional capacity and have the same space saving square design (as opposed to the traditional cylindrical shape) as the rest of the Varmebaronen range.
To correctly size your accumulator tank you should base it on the size of the boiler, not the size of the property.

Värmebaronen Teknik tanks have unique flow restrictors and stratification plates enabling them to handle several heat sources at the same time without disturbing the stratification in the tank (and thus cancelling each other out).
Aqualux Teknik has a built-in solar coil for thermal transfer from solar panels. A generous copper-lined hot water heater ensures that there is always enough hot water. And is not sensitive to lime.

If you require a high volume of water (more than one accumulator tank), multiple Aqualux UB accumulator tanks can easily be added. These tanks have no flow restrictors or stratification plates. Thermometers for the top, centre and bottom of the tank are conveniently co-located at the top of the tank for easy reading.

A compact accumulator with a built-in copper-lined water heater. This tank has no flow restrictors or stratification plates and is therefore best suited for a single heat source such as a biomass log boiler, pellet boiler or heat pump. The Aqualux CU can be connected to one or more Aqualux UB's.
